supply teaching in the East MidlandsAt Opus Educational we can provide supply teaching staff across the East Midlands area for adhoc day to day placements, for longer term placements such as maternity cover or long term sickness or we can provide supply staff to cover for those unfilled vacancies.

When a school entrusts the pupils in its care to an Opus Educational supply teacher it knows with certainty that that all necessary checks have been carried out. The following procedure is strictly applied to all teachers.

Interview A face to face interview with an experienced professional. The interview lasts about one hour and delves into the experience and teaching background.

DfEE List 99 All teachers are checked against DfEE list 99

Criminal Check All teachers complete a criminal check form, which is processed by the local LEA. Teachers trained overseas must have a notarised clearance from their own country or the original clearance.

Identification Check All teaching staff who apply for registration as supply teachers with Opus Educational are subject to an identity check before registration is accepted.

Qualification Check Proof of qualifications is checked. Only original or notarised copies of degree and teaching certificates are acceptable. Where a teacher does not have proof of their qualified teacher status a check is made directly to the DfEE.

Health Check All supply teachers registering with Opus educational have to complete a medical questionnaire. If there are any questions on a health matter a letter from a doctor is required to confirm a teacher is medically clear to teach.

References All supply teachers have to provide a minimum of two professional references. One must be from the last school in which the teacher taught. This will in most cases be from another school. In the case of a newly qualified teacher the college at which they studied and the school where they underwent their final teaching practice are asked for a reference.
